How to get around

If you want to go to other Islands you can order a Dhow for slow sailing, take a speed boat or take a slow boat. The fares differ. If you are on Lamu Island, boat transfers can bring you to Shela Village, Matondoni or even Kizingo. In the town and villages we walk and transport is done by donkeys. Motorcycles "boda-bodas" are not allowed in the town and in the villages. There are pick up points at the beginning and end of town and of Shela Village. Be aware of your safety on the motorcycles. A walk to Shela Village from Lamu Town takes about 45 minutes. Be sure not to walk with high tide. Any other time is great.
